BIP A36 - Forklift Equipment Operation
Course Description
This comprehensive training course prepares participants to safely and effectively operate powered industrial trucks in compliance with OSHA standards. Designed for new and experienced operators, the class combines classroom instruction with hands-on practice to build essential skills and ensure workplace safety.
Participants will learn key concepts, including:
- Operating instructions, warnings, and precautions
- The operation of forklifts powered by electric, gas, LP, or diesel
- Differences between forklifts and automobiles
- Vehicle controls, instrumentation, and propulsion systems
- Steering, maneuvering, and visibility limitations
- Fork and attachment adaptation, vehicle capacity, and stability principles
- Pre-operational inspections and equipment maintenance
- Propane and battery safety
- Safe operation on various surfaces, including inclines and narrow aisles
- Load handling, stacking, and unstacking techniques
- Pedestrian safety, hazardous environments, and enclosed space considerations

- A 47-page Operator’s Training Manual
- OSHA-compliant written examination
- OSHA-compliant performance evaluation
