The Eclipsing of God: Facing the Holocaust Through Faith 

Explore historical responses by religious institutions after viewing representations of faith and religions in film and theater about the Holocaust. Discuss how faith is both an asset and detriment, and how spirituality and religions can provide meaning when oppression and atrocity present themselves. Works explored (in formation) include: The Deputy, Au Revoir Les Enfants, God on Trial, Ida, and Boenhoffer. Taught by David Y. Chack, longtime instructor in the Oakton Emeritus program, and a professor in Holocaust Theatre at DePaul University.
