Course Description

Participants in this course will analyze major decisions made during history’s largest global conflict. Led by Joseph S. Harrington, M.A., participants will examine the reasoning behind appeasement of Axis aggression in the 1930s; the German invasion of the Soviet Union; the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor; the Allied bombing campaigns and demand for unconditional surrender; the Allied response to the Warsaw Uprising and the Holocaust; planning for the postwar world; use of the atomic bomb; and the trial of Axis leaders.
