Course Description

In the Spring, we discovered that the world of political films is immense. So here we go again, with 8 different films—and takes. Politics is the distribution and exercise of power. It is not surprising, then, that so many differently focused films involve politics as a major concern, not only in campaigns and legislatures, but in boardrooms, families, and professions—even in the arts. The eight films for this course, each selected for its quality, will display the various ways political processes pervade our lives, Join Alan P. Barr, Ph.D., film and literature professor, in lively and ever-so-pertinent discussions of such films as: Citizen KaneSyrianaThe ContenderCheyenne AutumnRedsDeath and the Maiden, and The Queen.
Note: Having participated in the previous course  is not necessary; they are independent units with different films."
