Course Description

This new course, taught by Francine J. Sanders, M.A., will explore eight water-themed films. Some are set on the water, and others offer water in a less obvious way. Under consideration: “All is Lost” (J.C. Chandor), “Swimming Pool” (Francois Ozon), “Life of Pi” (Ang Lee), “Das Boot” (Wolfgang Petersen), “Chinatown” (Roman Polanski), “Lifeboat” (Alfred Hitchcock), “Water” (Deepa Mehta), “The Shape of Water” (Guillermo del Toro), and “Dark Waters” (Todd Haynes).
